Bellingham Goal Secures Win as Real Madrid Remain Undefeated in Europe

Real Madrid deservedly, but not without a few nervous moments, secured a narrow 1:0 win against Juventus in the Champions League league phase. Thanks to Jude Bellingham’s match-winning goal, Los Blancos continue their flawless run in Europe’s premier club competition, making it nine points from three games, while Juventus remain on just two.

Although Real Madrid began the match with more possession, the Italians made it difficult to find a way through. The match was defined by tactical discipline. Playing with a five-man defensive line, Juventus allowed few chances, defended compactly and waited for opportunities to counter. They forced the Spaniards to be patient in their build-up. The Bianconeri managed on several occasions to break quickly after winning the ball, testing Thibaut Courtois, who kept out every attempt. Shortly before the break, Real Madrid played their best phase of the half. But Michele Di Gregorio showed a strong performance in goal ensuring the match remained goalless at halftime.

Just after the break Dusan Vlahovic tested the Madridistas with a dangerous run on goal. However Courtois showed a remarkable save to keep his clean sheet. Only seven minutes later, Jude Bellingham (57.) scored the first and only goal of the evening. After Vini Jr. struck the post, the English midfielder reacted quickest to the rebound and finished into the net. The goal was a well deserved reward for Madrid’s control of the game. Encouraged by the goal, Real dominated the following phase, showing confidence and energy, while Juventus were forced to drop deep and rely once more on counterattacks.

As the clock ran down, the Bianconeri couldn’t find an equaliser, leaving Xabi Alonso’s players as well deserved winners. The victory should give them confidence heading into the upcoming El Clásico and their next Champions League clash with another top team, Liverpool.
